On August 4, a significant cyberattack targeted Mobile Guardian, a widely used digital classroom management platform, resulting in the remote wipe of over 13,000 student devices. This breach primarily affected Chromebooks and iPads, causing substantial disruption across educational institutions in North America, Europe, and Singapore.
The incident began when hackers broke into Mobile Guardian’s computers without authorisation, impacting operations in several different locations. Although the vendor first claimed that just a small number of devices were compromised, it soon became evident that the hack had a substantial effect.
