AMD Intel Broker Gang Cyberattack Dark Web Data Theft

Leading computer company AMD is looking into a potential breach after following claims that private information was taken and sold on a hacker site. Numerous private information, including bank records, personnel information, and other vital information, is being exposed in the purported hack.

The company assured that they are working closely with law enforcement and a third-party hosting partner to probe the claims and assess the impact of the potentially compromised data. AMD acknowledged the situation in a statement, saying, “We are aware of a cybercriminal organisation claiming to be in possession of stolen AMD data.”

IntelBroker hacking group claims responsibility for the AMD hack.

IntelBroker, the cybercriminal responsible for the alleged hack, has provided screenshots of some of the allegedly stolen credentials. Nevertheless, neither the price of the data nor the methods of acquisition have been disclosed by IntelBroker. The threat actor wrote, “Today, I’m selling the AMD.com data breach. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!” in a post on the hacking forum. The breach happened in June 2024, and the data that was compromised included financial information, specification sheets, employee and customer databases, property files, ROMs, source code, and information about upcoming AMD products.

DarkWebInformer, a source monitoring dark web activities, reported that IntelBroker claimed the stolen data comprises an extensive employee database. This database allegedly contains user IDs, first and last names, job functions, business phone numbers, email addresses, and employment statuses.

Due to multiple high-profile breaches, IntelBroker has become well-known. Notably, the group was responsible for the DC Health Link breach, resulting in a congressional hearing since members and staff of the US House of Representatives’ personal information was exposed. A breach of the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE), a website used by international law enforcement organisations to share information, was coordinated by IntelBroker more recently.

AMD has encountered similar difficulties in the past. The business looked into another extensive data breach in June 2022 that involved the alleged theft of 450GB of data, as reported by the RansomHouse extortion group.

This event highlights the dynamic threat landscape that major technology corporations must navigate as the affected company works carefully to determine the accuracy of the most recent accusations and the scope of any possible data compromise. Both stakeholders and industry observers will be keenly monitoring AMD’s investigation’s findings and their subsequent actions.
