India Airports Anonymous Sudan Hackers Cyberattacks DDoS Threat Monitoring Dark Web

The Sudan-based hacktivist group, Anonymous Sudan, has threatened to assault India with cyberattacks based on an announcement on their malicious site. The group launched distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on six Indian airports as of this report.

Anonymous Sudan is a politically motivated hacktivist group that has actively been launching DDoS attacks against its targets since January 23, 2023. Our iZOOlogic threat researchers have also been discovering activities from the group, including one against Scandivinian Airlines and attack threats on Australian organisations.

The Indian airports allegedly involved have received DDoS attacks from Anonymous Sudan.

According to our iZOOlogic team’s investigation, six Indian airports have received threats from the hacktivist group. These airports include the Airports Authority of India, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Mumbai International Airport, Hyderabad International Airport, Goa International Airport, and Cochin International Airport.

Only two of the six Indian airports are currently inaccessible as of this article, which are the Airports Authority of India and the Mumbai International Airport. The rest can be accessed as normal.

On the other hand, continued reports about Anonymous Sudan’s cyberattack threats have still been emerging. Intelligence sources reveal that other Indian organisations are still under attack as of April 8, including three unnamed e-commerce companies, banking institutions, a tax firm, and medical institutions.

As of this article, all websites of the most recent organisations and companies struck by the hacktivist group work normally.

In a separate post, the hacktivist group clarified that India’s treatment of Muslims triggered their attack on Indian organisations. No further context is provided about this motive, but our iZOOlogic researchers will continue to probe the issue and give updates as they become available.

All organisations and companies within countries that Anonymous Sudan claimed to have been targeting, such as India, must always be alert and implement stronger cybersecurity solutions to combat DDoS and hacks.
