Hacktivist Indonesia Data Leak Stolen Database IndiaMART

A malicious hacker group called Hacktivist Indonesia has claimed to have revealed a list of about 12,000 Indian government websites from the Central region and its states. The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) points warned organisations that the group could leak data or execute cybercriminal campaigns in the coming weeks.

On the other hand, the Indian government websites believe they could handle these threats as they are updated and capable of addressing such issues. The notification warnings have reached numerous agencies, including India’s Central and State government wings.

Based on reports, the Hacktivist Indonesia group participated in a cybercriminal operation to hack Indian and several other websites from foreign countries. The group has continued to make conflicts across the cybersecurity landscape, threatening different entities with their attacks.

Cybersecurity experts believe this hacktivist group could have originated in Malaysia or a different Islamic country. These claims are based on similar objectives of people trying to disrupt India-based cyberspace.

Furthermore, the hacktivist group could also start an attack against Ukraine or China since they also attack different countries. This group plans to execute numerous attacks through various methods of open-source-based operations.

Our researchers in iZOOlogic observed that the Hacktivist Indonesia group had leaked a database owned by IndiaMART.

According to our researcher, the Hacktivist Indonesia group leaked a database from IndiaMART containing troves of data that could affect numerous individuals.

IndiaMART is one of the most prominent B2B marketplaces in India. This entity connects buyers and suppliers in its day-to-day operations. The company started in 1999 and began to provide a platform for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), large companies, and independent sellers to promote and sell their products.

One of our iZOOlogic researchers stated that the malicious group leaked about 1.4 gigabytes worth of data, which contained around eight million databases of e-commerce. Furthermore, the leak could have also included the personal data of every user of the affected platform.

Therefore, our researchers suggest that IndiaMART users should be vigilant of incoming attacks as the leaked data from the recent attack could allow other threat actors to execute cybercriminal activities, such as fraud, identity theft, and phishing attacks.
