CardX suffered a data leak incident that impacted its customers

One of Thailand’s most prominent digital financial platforms, CardX, confirmed that it sustained a data leak incident that could affect its clients. The platform rolled out notification letters to customers regarding the incident, explaining that the breach includes personal data linked to loans and cash card apps.

The confirmed information exposed in the leak are names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. However, CardX claimed unauthorised entities could not use this exposed info for financial transactions.

The company published an advisory and urged its customers to be vigilant and be on guard against potential fraudsters who might try to make communications through phone calls, SMS, or deceptive emails. Moreover, the company advised customers to monitor their account activities to prevent fraud.

 

CardX improved its defences after the incident.

 

Reports stated that CardX acted immediately to enhance its defence features against unauthorised access to customer information after detecting the data leak. Fortunately, this incident did not impact customers’ financial information.

This Thai company implemented proactive monitoring and auditing procedures to fortify its defences against future breaches. In addition, CardX enhanced its systems with upgraded security protocols to lessen the risk of further data leaks.

CardX operates under the umbrella of the SCB X Group, a prominent financial conglomerate in Thailand. The company emphasised that this incident will not cause any impact on the information systems of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) or any other entities within the group.

SCB X serves as the holding company for The Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited, with CardX as one of its constituent components.

Furthermore, the company apologised to the affected customers and promised to improve their commitment to assisting those impacted by the incident and answer all their concerns about the leak. They highlighted the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding against online fraud, urging customers to follow the best practices that could mitigate or prevent further compromise.

CardX claimed that they will have a more dedicated behaviour to improve their security to earn back the trust of their customers. They assured everyone that they would establish a better infrastructure that could protect the sensitive data owned by their clients.
