Paris Olympics LulzSec Hackers The Last Supper Cyberattack

The LulzSec Muslim hacking group has conducted a malicious campaign against the ongoing Paris Olympics after compromising the French Olympic Games website.

The Paris Olympics sparked a massive discussion and controversy about its opening ceremony earlier this month. The event has gained backlash from various groups, especially the Christian religious community, as its opening ceremony allegedly portrayed a parody version of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, ‘The Last Supper.’

On the other hand, other communities defended the event by explaining that it does not reference the Biblical event but represents a particular setting in Greek mythology. Still, the event caused a massive stir of opinion, which caught the attention of a cybercriminal organisation.

The LulzSec Muslim hacking group hacked the French Olympic Games website as a retaliation to the alleged blasphemous act of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.

The LulzSec hacktivist group has claimed responsibility for the recent attack on the French Olympic Games website, which is the critical component of the current Paris Olympics. The group explained in its recent post on a hacking forum that they executed the attack to show support for the Christian community.

This subgroup of the infamous Anonymous hacktivist group explained in its posting that the hacked website is their “response to the abuse they (Paris Olympics) committed against our Lord Jesus.”

Furthermore, the LulzSec post explained that the group acquired part of the website’s database, resulting in the theft of various data. These attackers claimed that they exfiltrated 3,000 lines of data in the database, including user accounts, names, addresses, and email addresses.

The group also obtained encrypted passwords and timestamps from the website, massively impacting account users on the website.

LulzSec is a notorious hacktivist group known for its politically and religiously motivated cyberattacks. They condemned the opening ceremony for what they perceived as disrespectful portrayals and narratives, fulfilling their promise to the people, despite being a Muslim group, to take severe actions against such acts.

The potentially affected individuals of the attack should be cautious of targeted phishing attempts as these attackers have already published the stolen information. Impacted users should be careful when engaging in unsolicited communications to avoid falling victim to further cybercriminal activities.
