Cyber.Anarchy.Squad Threat Group Take Down Russia Infotel JSC Telecom

The Ukraine-based hacker group, Cyber.Anarchy.Squad claimed the attack on Infotel JSC last week. This incident impacted the telecommunication provider, a Russian entity. Moreover, the company currently services multiple Russian banks, credit institutions, and online stores.

Earlier this week, several leading banks within Russia suffered access interruption from their country’s banking systems, which led to the obstruction of online payments. The telecom confirmed an incident on its website, which they are currently addressing to restore systems damaged by the massive attack.

In addition, the Russian company disseminated a notification letter to every relevant individual regarding the damaged system caused by the cyberattack. The notification letter also stated that the company is working on restoring the designs and additional deadlines for completing the process. Lastly, the company asks its customers for their patience and cooperation.

A recent study revealed that Cyber.Anarchy.Squad allegedly occurred earlier this month.

According to investigations, the Cyber.Anarchy.Squad attack probably occurred in the first week of June after a particular Russian bank’s internet provider went down. The study also confirmed that the Russian company had an ongoing restoration process during the shutdown, which lasted nearly two days.

On the other hand, the hacktivist group that attacked the Russian entity confirmed that all the compromised structures suffered damage. Furthermore, the attackers posted on Telegram that their attack left the infrastructure unusable.

The affected company could compromise hundreds of their clients, most of whom are banks. Some of the affected customers came from credit institutions and car dealership firms.

The attackers also released screenshots of alleged access to Infotel’s network, such as a network diagram and a compromised email account, to prove their campaign’s legitimacy.

This incident has become an ongoing plan of Cyber.Anarchy.Squad to compromise as many Russian companies as possible to fight back against hackers attacking Ukraine since the start of its geopolitical conflict.

The most significant campaign that Cyber.Anarchy.Squad executed is the exposure of a database stolen from the breached systems of a Russian retailer and a jewellery maker. The databases included millions of records with data owned by the companies’ personnel and customers and internal emails.
