Eurostar high-speed rail operator, which operates internationally, deployed emails that urged users to reset their account passwords due to allegedly upgrading their security. However, customers who visited the password reset website stumbled across some technical problems, which do not allow them to reset their passwords or log in to their accounts.
Eurostar is famous for linking countries such as the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, and France via trains that cross the Channel Tunnel.
A password reset bug has interrupted Eurostar users from getting inside their accounts.
Earlier this week, Eurostar disseminated emails that forced users to reset their account passwords. This railway company claimed that they are busy upgrading the account security for all users.
Based on reports, the company wants its users to continue using their Eurostar accounts, but they must first reset their passwords. Moreover, the email explained that users with the Eurostar mobile app should update their application to its latest version.
However, the reset password link contained a bug that confused their users as it did not solve the password security issue. Instead, users received several error messages upon arriving at the password-changing link.
One of the error messages stated that their link has a few technical problems, which obstructs them from sending the email. A researcher studied the site’s behaviour but did not conclude after the issue persisted throughout the day.
Subsequently, the bug on the link has caused massive confusion and frustration to Eurostar users globally, and they are now locked out of their accounts.
Moreover, the site presents a password reset interstitial for every successful login attempt from a user. Unfortunately, the password reset did not reach its end, which locked the users out of their accounts.
Numerous users took on their frustration on social media platforms by posting their disappointments towards the company.
On the other hand, Eurostar posted a long thread on Twitter explaining that they are aware of users attempting to access their accounts but cannot log in. The company blamed the errors on ongoing maintenance in their system.
